TESS

This letter was received from the new owner of Tess, after she was given a new, loving, home:

Tess has settled in so quickly, it has been something I could only hope for or dream about. She travelled home very well, and she has been such a good little girl.

She is eating well, uses her litter tray without any fuss, and loves her new bed so much.

When she first jumped onto her bed, she rolled on her back with all four legs waving about in the air, making little trilling noises.

She gets so excited when she sees us in the morning, rubbing around our ankles, mewing. She runs into the kitchen and waits by her feeding bowl for Mum to give her breakfast.

Her two catnip mice have been well and truly killed, with all the stuffing knocked out of them. Her favourite game is chasing a rolled up piece of paper that I pull along on a string, whizzing around the house with fur flying, and when caught, bites it to pieces.

She also has a favourite chair to perch on, with a lovely view to the field beyond. I wish you could have seen her face when the cows and calves came near the garden fence, just was just transfixed!

On day 2, while having a cuppa, she surprised me by jumping onto my lap with her paws on my ample bosom, and proceeded to knead them while putting her head under my chin (oh, what a sight!).

We feel so privileged when she chooses to lay by our sides and allows us to fuss her. I have laughed a lot this week at her antics, she has quite lifted me out of a dark place that I have been in for some time now, losing Mom and Misty within 3 months was devastating.

I thank you so much for what you have done for Tess, and what you go on doing for other dear little souls.

I have enclosed two poems that I have written, something I do as therapy through my depression. It helps get my thoughts and feelings out onto paper. I know when you read them you will understand.

When I first met you I felt that we were on the same plain. As Tess progresses to accepting our family visiting, and going outside, I will write to you again.

Best wishes from both of us.
